Licensed Pharmacy Technician Job Description
- Work with the Director of Pharmacy services and carry activities in medication distribution process including the selection and preparation of medication doses in response to patient specific orders, requests for bulk preparations, and meeting anticipated needs.
- Medications are prepared, packaged, and labeled according to department policies, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Preparation and distribution of medications may require use of special equipment and processes, including aseptic technique, packaging equipment, and automated dispensing devices.
- Other duties may include transport of medications to patient care areas, record keeping, auditing, maintenance of equipment, organization and cleanliness of department areas.
- Assist Patients, receive written prescriptions for Pharmacist and retrieve filled prescriptions.
Licensed Pharmacy Technician Job Requirements
- Completion of pharmacy technician training program.
- Excellent fluency in English verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and correctly follow verbal and written instructions.
- Continued recognition as Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.
- Licensure by Texas State Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacy Technician.
- Previous experience as Pharmacy Technician with at least 2 years in acute care hospital or equivalent experience required.

- Enter medical charges for all urgent care visits
- Review the visit documentation and the charge ticket to ensure all healthcare charges are captured
- Enter all required modifiers based on CPT and CMS coding guidelines
- Analyze and interpret medical record documentation to ascertain complete and accurate information for Acuity determination
- Enter medical charges into Patcom and reconcile medical charges daily
- Serve as a resource person for the Health Information Management Department
Medical Charge Entry Job Requirements:
- 2 years of medical charge entry experience
- Working knowledge of ICD9 and CPT procedure codes
- Knowledge of medical billing processes

- Manage call efforts and notate accounts in the company’s healthcare system.
- Comply with the bad debt policy for patient telephone collections criteria.
- Accept medical payments and set up payment plans per policy.
- Create refund documentation packets for patient and/or provider
- Research and resolve medical billing issues presented in each phone call
- Screen all self pay patients for state or federal government program eligibility.
- Conduct webinars and train new self pay medical collectors
