The Reconciliation/Payment Manager will manage all functions and issues related to posting of payments, adjustments, correspondence, recoupments, and refunds as well as trend and report issues related to payments, denials and refunds.
Responsibilities:
- Post insurance and private payer payments and adjustments while reviewing for proper reimbursement.
- Maintain daily, weekly and monthly reporting of deposits and balance batches daily and ensure that all postings in billing systems balance to finance at month end.
- Resolve unapplied and line item credit balances. Prepare Medicare Credit Balance reports quarterly and Medicare Bad Debt reports yearly.
- Assist with establishment and implementation of Electronic Remittance Advice and Electronic Fund Transfer when possible.
- Manage credit balances monthly and initiate refund requests when appropriate; manage refund requests and develop timely appeal responses when appropriate; manage scanning and indexing of payments to ensure accurate and timely processing; manage the transfer of payment related files to eFR system.
- Supervise department staff and oversee staff development, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, terminating, payroll entry, performance evaluation and work schedules.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 5 years of experience in a health/medical office with at least two years dedicated to payment and/or reimbursement issues.
- 2 years of management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Advanced understanding of government and private insurer rules and regulations; CPT, ICD-9 and HCPCS coding; ability to navigate the internet, specifically Medicare and Medicaid websites.
